Our Impact

Huntington Pride has launched several events and programs to further our mission. These include social events like Drag Me to Brunch, book signings, and comedy shows; educational events such as, National Coming Out Day, and Transgender Day of Remembrance; and fundraising events like Drag Me to Bingo, which raises money for local non-profits. We also have events specifically for our LGBTQ+ youth, such as Rainbow Formal and United For Love, West Virginia’s first LGBTQ+ youth resource fair. Our biggest impact to date comes from our first annual Huntington Pride Festival, which drew in 5,000 people to Downtown Huntington in an amazing display of love and community. We have also launched an LGBTQ+ Resource Guide for Cabell County with the help of our friends at Branches Domestic Violence Shelter and the Cabell County Stop Team. We strive to create events and programs that reach our entire community and our allies and will continue to grow and expand to meet those needs. We thank our community for embracing the mission of Huntington Pride. Together we will make a lasting impact for current and future LGBTQ+ residents.

June 2019

We want to plant a seed and watch it grow and flourish in the community. I’ve lived in Huntington my entire life. I want the LGBT community to feel comfortable here. I want people to feel safe here. I don’t want people to continue to move away to bigger cities for that sense of community. We’re here to plant some fabulous rainbow flowers in the Huntington garden.
